The Value Of Sharing Your Idea
Won’t people steal my idea if I share it? Actually, no. While it happens from time to time, ideas actually don’t get stolen that often. Why? Because frankly, an idea alone isn’t worth much. If it were, websites like ebay would be filled with ideas for sale.
The real value in your idea comes from the skill, determination, time and effort it takes to create a business around it. Someone with the drive and capability to undertake the feat of starting a business is much more likely to come up with their own idea than to break their back making your idea work. To put it simply, motivated, successful people are much too involved in their own projects to spend time stealing your ideas.
What’s more, if your idea can be cloned that easily, you are going to run into much bigger problems in the marketplace. At some point other people are going to find out about your idea – it’s inevitable. Whether or not you’re successful is dependent upon your execution and passion – not on how well you conceal your idea.
The tremendous value in collaborating with passionate entrepreneurs who can give insightful feedback far outweighs the small, and often overblown, concern of idea stealing.
