Most of us work full time.  Some of us like what we do, others don’t.   There is a large number of us that aspire to do our own thing .  So in an effort to accomplish this goal, we end up moonlighting.   We do this sometimes to see if we can sustain ourselves enough to make the leap or just to make an extra buck.

The disussion for this month is what are some good ideas around moonlighting.  What have you done, what has worked well, and how have you done it.  It can be things you’ve thought of, something your actually doing or something that you’ve done in the past.

When I was in college I needed some extra money so I linked up with a friends company as a chocolate fountain attendant. Basically all I did was set up the equipment before the wedding reception or corporate meeting, and then just stand there next to it and make sure people don’t stick their fingers in the community chocolate. I loved it because thats when I was single and being around love-drunk girls at wedding receptions had its perks ;) It was easy and I got paid to flirt with girls.

i make a few hundred bucks on ebay each month…it has taken me about a year to reach this dollar amount.

here is my advice…find something unique…not cell phones not consumer electronics…i stuck with the roots of ebay and found a collectible that was specific to my physical location…in my case a give a way that a local company offers that has found cult status among collectors.

i also recommending sticking with a few items that you know how much its going to cost to ship, fits easy in a shipping envelope/container, you know how much the ebay fees are and you can re-use your listing over and over…

this model pays for my green fees and my paintball addiction…

This isn’t the most exciting idea, but it makes money and is consistent. I speak another language and found a web site called Translatorscafe.com You post your resume and skills and price and people contact you or you get an email notification of new jobs in your language. You can decide the terms for the work if you decide to take it. Easy gig, easy money.
